New Mexico is a state in the south-western United States, one of the so-called Mountain states. Population - 2,084,217 people (36th place among the states, and the data 2013). Capital - Santa Fe, the largest city - Albuquerque. Other major cities - Las Cruces, Roswell, Farmington and Rio Rancho.

The total area of New Mexico is 315,191 square km (121,587 sq. Miles, the 5th place among the states in the country), with almost all of this area is occupied land. The area of water surface of 606 square kilometers (234 sq. Miles, 0.19% of the territory). In northern New Mexico is bordered by Colorado border runs along the 37th parallel of north latitude. In the east - to Oklahoma along the meridian of 103° west longitude and Texas, in the south - with Texas and the Mexican states of Chihuahua and Sonora to the west - with Arizona in longitude 109° 03' west longitude. At the point where converge the northern and western boundaries of the state, it is the intersection of the borders of four states (New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Utah). The borders of each state form a right angle, this remarkable point is called the 'Four Corners'.
