Massachusetts is a state located in the northeast of the US, on the Atlantic coast.

Massachusetts is bordered by the states of New Hampshire and Vermont in the north of New York to the west, Connecticut and Rhode Island in the south, with the Atlantic Ocean on the east. The islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket are located south of Cape Cod. Boston - the largest city in the state (agglomeration of about 5.8 million), but the majority of the population lives in the suburbs of the metropolis.

Massachusetts state called bays, due to a few bays on its coast: Massachusetts, Cape Cod, Buzzards and Narragansett. To the west are the mountain range and the Taconic Mountains Berkshire Hills.

Massachusetts is known as one of the most left-wing and liberal of American states. According to the decision of the Supreme Court of the State, May 17, 2004 Massachusetts for the first time in US history began to register same-sex marriages.
