District of Columbia business

District of Columbia is an independent territory, not part of any of the states. The city was founded in 1791 and named in honor of George Washington, the first US president. Since 1871, Washington, along with Georgetown and a number of other areas merged in the District of Columbia.

The city is located on the north bank of the Potomac River and is bordered by Virginia to the southwest and the State of Maryland from all other parties. Resident population of the city is more than 600 thousand people; because of the arrival of commuters during the work week it increased to one million.

Washington is located in the humid subtropical climate zone. Its climate is typical for the US mid-Atlantic region, remote from large bodies of water. Spring and autumn are warm, while winter is cool with annual snowfall averaging 37 cm. The average winter temperature is 3,3 ° C from mid-December to mid-February. Blizzards affect Washington on average once in every four - six years.
